Church History

The history of the original Lena A. Hamlett C.M.E. Church also known as Dotcy I. Isom C.M.E. Church and presently known named Hamlett-Isom C.M.E. Church was organized on November 6, 1955 at 3757 west Douglas Boulevard. Bishop J. Arthur Hamlett delivered the first message. under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Walter A. Miller. The congregation was comprised of 50 crusaders known as charter members. On September 21, 1987 the building edifice was sold.

On May 5, 1990, 70 members marched into the new worship site under the leadership of Elder Rev. Charles H. Shyne at 5446 w. Division street.

In July 2008 God blessed us by enabling us to burn the church mortgage with Bishop Paul A.G. Stewart, Jr under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Silas James.
